Who cares about manufacturing?

Manufacturing is more than just putting parts together. It's coming up with ideas, testing principles and perfecting the engineering, as well as final assembly.

It’s coming up with ideas, testing principles and perfecting the engineering, as well as final assembly.” ~James Dyson Manufacturing Day Manufacturing Day is a national event that takes place every year on October 3rd, with the aim of encouraging manufacturers to open their doors and share the experience of manufacturing with the youth. This event is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of manufacturing and its role in driving innovation, creating jobs and supporting the economy. As a company, we believe in the significance of manufacturing and the role it plays in our economy. That’s why we are working with Florida Advanced Technological Education Center and local elementary schools to communicate the message to a younger demographic and help them understand the importance of manufacturing. Manufacturing plays a vital role in our economy and is responsible for supporting millions of jobs in the United States. According to data, manufacturing supports an estimated 17.2 million jobs in the US, which is about one in six private-sector jobs. Additionally, nearly 12 million Americans are employed directly in manufacturing, which is 9 percent of the workforce. Not only does manufacturing support jobs, but it also drives innovation. Manufacturers in the United States perform two-thirds of all private-sector R&D in the nation, which is more than any other sector. This drives innovation and helps to create new products and technologies that benefit us all. Furthermore, manufacturing in the United States produces $1.8 trillion of value each year, which is 12.2 percent of US GDP. This highlights the significant economic impact of manufacturing. For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.48 is added to the economy, which is the highest multiplier effect of any economic sector. For an international perspective, the UNIDO report provides additional insight into the significance of manufacturing. The report offers interesting data that compares regions, sectors and estimated growth rates. The World Bank also provides useful manufacturing data as a % of GDP for the global economy. In conclusion, Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of manufacturing and its role in driving innovation, creating jobs and supporting the economy. We encourage all our partners, clients and associates to open their doors and share the experience of manufacturing with the youth. Join us in observing and taking this opportunity to support the industry and its global significance.
