A certified translation is delivered with a statement of accuracy from the translator, together with the translation company’s seal. That is the form Chinese government offices, notary offices, registration authorities, courts, banks and employers accept, and most overseas authorities and institutions accept it for commercial, legal, academic and personal documents. Will my destination accept it? Requirements are set by whoever receives the document. Some authorities require a translation certified in their own country by an accredited translator; others accept a translation certified in the country of origin, or one attached to a notarial certificate. For a bilingual contract, see which language version prevails. Do I need notarisation or an Apostille as well? Sometimes. Some authorities accept the certified translation alone; others want the original notarised and apostilled first, then translated.
