Certified Chinese and English Translation Common questions Do I still need embassy legalisation for a Chinese company document used abroad? Usually not. Since 7 November 2023 China is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. For use in another member state, a Chinese public document needs only an Apostille, and the old consular legalisation step is removed. Much of the English-language guidance online still describes the outdated chain, and for a destination outside the Convention that older chain does still apply. We do not currently take documents through that consular route; if you need it, tell us the country anyway, because demand decides whether we add it. Which company documents usually need this? Most commonly a business licence, articles of association, a board or shareholder resolution, a certificate of good standing, a power of attorney or a signature specimen.
