They come to Guilin from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds: undergraduates, graduate students, working professionals, retirees, and gap-year travelers alike. What connects them is a shared belief that Chinese is best learned through daily immersion in a Chinese-speaking city. In Guilin, classroom study extends into meals, markets, taxis, parks, and everyday conversations.
