Effective September 1st, 2026, the Nicaraguan authorities require all affected shipments to undergo mandatory ozone treatment performed by the Organismo Internacional Regional de Sanidad Agropecuaria (OIRSA) prior to export. To be authorized for loading, containers must be accompanied by a valid OIRSA-issued Ozone Treatment Certificate and sealed with the official government seal. Government inspectors will verify compliance before vessel loading, and containers failing to meet these requirements may be rejected for export by the relevant authorities.
