News Rate announcements News Rate announcements Rate announcements Heavy Load Surcharge Tariff revision from India (Zone 2) to USA on M3W 09 Jun 2025 Share LinkedIn Facebook X.com WeChat Email Copy link In order to keep providing you with our global services, Maersk is implementing the Heavy Load Surcharge for 20 dry containers with Verified Gross Mass (VGM) exceeding 20 metric tons from India Zone 2 origin cities: Amingaon, Chennai, Cochin, Haldia Port, Kolkata, Mangalore, Marmagao, Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Durgapur, Raipur, Coimbatore, Kattupalli, Kakinada, Ennore Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata Alipore, Siliguri, Danagadi, Duburi, Hoskote-Bangalore. Effective price calculation date 6th July 2025. The New tariff levels are as follows: Origin Destination Effective Date Currency 20 DRY VGM Weight Origin Zone 2 India cover origin cities: Amingaon, Chennai, Cochin, Haldia Port, Kolkata, Mangalore, Marmagao, Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Durgapur, Raipur, Coimbatore, Kattupalli, Kakinada, Ennore Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata Alipore, Siliguri, Danagadi, Duburi, Hoskote-Bangalore Destination USA Effective Date 06-Jul-25 Currency USD 20 DRY 400 VGM Weight > 20 metric tons * Non-SPOT booking – The above rate is retrieved based on PCD. PCD = Price Calculation Date. For non-FMC, PCD refers to the scheduled departure date of the first water leg at the time of booking confirmation for non-spot bookings. For FMC, PCD is last container gate-in date for non-spot bookings. * SPOT booking – The above rate is retrieved based on 1st vessel ETD at booking confirmation for Spot bookings. When Verified Gross Mass (VGM) exceeds the weight threshold, Heavy Load Surcharge will be triggered. The Verified Gross Mass (VGM) is the weight of the cargo including dunnage and bracing plus the tare weight of the container carrying this cargo. Please note that this is applicable on contract bookings only. The above rates are also subject to other applicable surcharges, including local charges and contingency charges. These rates are unaffected by, and do not affect, any tariff notified, published, or filed in accordance with local regulatory requirements. For trades subject to the US Shipping Act or the China Maritime Regulations, quotations or surcharges that vary from the Maersk Line tariff shall not be binding on Maersk Line unless included in a service contract or service contract amendment that has been filed with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) or the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, as applicable.
